Arc Flash Hazard Analysis
What is hotter than the surface of
the sun, explodes with the energy of dynamite, and kills 1-2
workers a day, every year?
ARC FLASH
- Arc Flash is a short circuit that flashes from one exposed live
conductor to another, or to ground.
- The resulting ionized air creates electrically conductive
superheated plasma that can reach temperatures in excess of
10,000°F.
- The explosion takes less than one second and produces a
brilliant flash, intense heat, and a pressure blast equivalent to
several sticks of dynamite.
Without
performing proper Electrical Preventative Maintenance ("EPM") on
electrical equipment you may be exposing employees to unknown
dangers such as bad or defective breaker trip units, or knife blade
switches that are welded in the closed position.
You may have all the equipment labeled properly and your
employees may be wearing the proper equipment per the label's
instructions, but if the equipment has not been tested to insure
proper operation your employees may not be protected against the
potential hazard.
Arc
flash hazard analysis and labeling as required by OSHA and
NFPA
- Infrared thermography to locate temperature anomalies
- Ultrasonic testing to locate sound anomalies caused by
electrical problems
- Power quality monitoring and analysis
- Transformer oil analysis
- Electrical system tune-up
- Troubleshooting
